This past year has taken us on an unbelievable rollercoaster of ups and downs. I think it's safe to say that is true for everyone on some level. For starters, I was furloughed... not much travel can happen in the middle of a global pandemic. I had time to reflect and re-imagine our life as we knew it, which actually resulted in some really great things for me. Let me start by quickly rewinding back to 2006 when I was sailing with Sea|mester in Thailand. At the end of the program we were asked to fill out an index card with 3 life goals: These goals have stuck with me and are always on my mind. It's helpful to have things written down that you want to achieve. (It is for me at least). I am blessed that goal #1 can be checked off and that we were able to have two amazing daughters. I work hard every day to be the best mother I can be for them and never take that for granted. My #3 goal of circumnavigating the world will take time... Sam and I have travelled extensively together and this one will remain on my to-do list for quite some time! The #2 goal is something I have wanted to do for DECADES. And I finally decided to dive in. Nothing will ever happen unless you try, right?! I have stories pop into my head ALL THE TIME. They have since before I can even remember. When the world shut down and I suddenly had a lot of time, it was an opportunity for me to make lemonade out of lemons. I applied for a mentorship with Rosie J. Pova and enrolled in a writing course "From Creation to Publication" with the Writing Workshop in Dallas, Texas. To my surprise, I was accepted to her mentorship and I have spent most every minute of my free time writing. I am in the final segment of my mentorship and will begin submitting to publishers and agents in the coming weeks. Traditional publishing can take a LONG time, so this blog will take you along this journey with me. I will never be able to thank Rosie enough for her guidance and expertise these past few months. I wouldn't be where I am today without her. I also couldn't complete this first blog post without thanking my incredible husband Sam, who has been my biggest supporter since day one. He believes in me, which is something so precious and powerful. I couldn't do this without him. Check back or subscribe here so you can come along with me on this very exciting yet daunting journey! Leave a comment below... I'd love to hear from you! XOXO, Blair
