About Blair

A Boutique Studio. A Real Publishing Insider.

Saltcraft Studio is not a production-line editorial service. It is a small, intentionally boutique publishing mentorship practice — limited in size, deeply invested in every client, and built on five years of being fully immersed in children's publishing from the inside out.

In five years, Blair has self-published, hybrid-published, traditionally published with a small press, and secured a deal with a Big Five house — Simon & Schuster, 2028. She has queried agents, faced rejection, pivoted, and placed. That experience spans every path publishing offers, and she brings all of it to every client.

What sets Saltcraft Studio apart is perspective. Blair has spent five years paying close attention to trends, tracking the key players, knowing where to show up and who to meet. Her feedback is current, lived, and genuinely useful — younger, fresher, and different from what you'll find at a traditional editorial house. This is a new-generation take on publishing strategy, from someone who is actively in it.

Blair Northen Williamson

"Why are you the one to tell this story?" — One question that shapes everything: your manuscript, your query, your pitch, and how agents and editors see you.

Whether it's a new creative angle on how to position a book for coverage, a conversation about what's landing with readers right now, or a frank discussion about what the market is actually responding to — Blair brings an author's perspective and a marketer's instincts to every conversation.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Why choose Saltcraft Studio?

Saltcraft Studio is a full-service boutique studio — not a single-skill transaction. Blair brings published credibility that is genuinely rare: Finalist, Children's Book International Award, American Writing Awards Picture Book of the Year 2025, Book Excellence Award Winner, Amazon #1 New Release, coverage in Kirkus Reviews and Publishers Weekly, and three published books with a fourth on the way with Simon & Schuster.

Who is Saltcraft Studio for?

Saltcraft Studio is built for serious authors at any stage of their publishing journey. While KidLit is Blair's speciality, engagements for branding, PR strategy, query letters, and pitch sessions are open to authors across the industry.

Do you work with self-published authors?

Absolutely. I have succeeded in both traditional publishing and self-publishing, including a Big Five deal and award-winning self-published titles. I can guide you through either path with real-world experience.

What is the difference between the services?

Coaching focuses on career strategy, mindset, and direction. Query Strategy is about positioning and getting in front of the right agents and editors. Manuscript Editing is hands-on work on your text. Publishing Consulting is big-picture guidance on path, platform, and launch. Most clients combine two or more depending on where they are. We'll figure out the right fit on your discovery call.

How long does working together take?

It depends entirely on the scope. A single strategy session can happen in an hour. An ongoing coaching engagement typically runs one to three months. Manuscript editing is quoted per project. Everything is agreed in writing before work begins — no surprises.
